Our Approach to Product Quality

Product quality is a non-negotiable for us.

We create products that are designed to perform at the high level our guests expect—from innovating performance fabrics to thoughtful construction, fit, comfort, and care.

Product Design & Testing

To help our guests feel their best, we undertake research to engineer our technical fabrics, best-in-class construction techniques, and strategic fits and features.

Product & Materials Design Process

Driven by science, research, and development, our approach to design is rooted in our desire to engineer versatile, distraction-free apparel that moves with our guests across activities and environments, sourcing high-quality materials from the world's leading suppliers.

Lab & Wear Testing

We have teams that conduct lab-based and in-field testing for new products throughout the development process, starting at the material level and continuing through prototyping stages. We evaluate how a product wears over time, how it performs through repeated washing, and the guest experience of putting it on and taking it off.

Reviews & Collaboration

We have strong relationships with our vendors and with production teams on the ground where they operate to engage face-to-face and solve any issues in real time. We also listen closely to our guests, using their feedback to help shape and elevate the products and experiences we deliver.

Our Quality Promise

If your item isn’t performing as intended, we’ll work to make it right.

Our Approach to Product Safety

The health and safety of our guests is paramount.

Through our chemical testing program, we collaborate closely with suppliers and third-party laboratories to manage and control chemicals used to manufacture our products.

Responsible Chemicals Management

lululemon maintains a Restricted Substances List (RSL) to ensure legally compliant products. The RSL contains a list of substances that are banned from or restricted within lululemon products.

Testing & Compliance

Suppliers are required to submit samples to accredited third-party laboratories for chemical testing. Certification of compliance is confirmed through the issuance of a test report by the laboratory.

Regulatory Alignment

We monitor evolving government regulations, industry practices, and scientific knowledge to inform updates to our standards and processes.

Industry Collaboration

Our partners are key to achieving meaningful change. Organizations we work with as part of our chemicals management program include the AFIRM Group and ZDHC, which drive industry-leading chemical management practices through safer chemistry, transparency, and continuous improvement across the supply chain.

"The materials used in apparel play an important role in determining product comfort, performance, and overall quality. As independent experts, we use objective, science-based testing and assessments to help lululemon make sure its fabrics and other materials meet global safety and quality standards."
