Spanning over 2,400 square feet, lululemon opens its first store in Japan, and offers its full range of technical product designs for men’s and women’s run, yoga, training, water activities and everything in between.
The store’s locally-inspired design seamlessly blends wa 和 (traditional Japanese aesthetics and textiles) with sleek retro fixtures to create a clean and calm space for the community of Tokyo. The front windows are adorned with layered wood screens that reflect traditional Japanese patterns. The stone flooring in the fit rooms evokes the feeling of cool stepping stones in traditional Japanese gardens while tatami mats are a nod to Tokyo’s beautiful teahouses. Chic metal and glass light fixtures, marble countertops and wooden fixtures offer a modern balance. A unique art installation created in-store by Jun Inoue, a celebrated artist whose work blends both Eastern and Western influences with old and new mediums, is featured behind the store cash desk.
In celebration of the opening, lululemon launched “Sweat Sense Japan,” a limited-edition collection of all white reflective product exclusive to Tokyo. This innovative collection showcases the brand’s signature ability to seamlessly blend beauty and function. Each of the four styles features a unique spray-effect pattern of high candle reflectivity to optimize visibility and create a technically beautiful collection.
The opening festivities centered around how to “Create The Life You Love” with a series of ambassador-led classes and experiences at G6 and at lululemon’s pop-up store at Isetan.
lululemon G6 is located on the fifth floor at 104-0061 6-10-1, Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
